A beautiful woman of the lower caste nomad tribe lives in temporary hutments on the outskirts of Asa Majra village (near Kalyan on the Nabha Road) near Patiala and makes a living by making and selling metal implements. I forgot to write down her name and my memory now fails me, but she told me that they are a tribe originally from Rajasthan who moved to Punjab some 400 years back. I found an uncanny resemblance with this girl I met almost 3000 kilometers from this place, who knows they might be distant cousins if their ancestral tree is traversed long enough.
