Akha tribe is animist, it means they believe a lot in spirits, bad or good, and houses must be protected from the bad ones. In front of every houses of the village, the Shaman came and put those little ladders. It is stricly forbidden to enter a house if there is this sign at the entrance. It is a very serious thing.
The amazing thing is that you can find the same mini buildings in Africa, in Mali for example!
