NEW YORK - A formerly powerful Afghan tribal leader has been sentenced to life in prison for smuggling heroin into the United States. Judge Denny Chin sentenced Bashir Noorzai (bah-SHEER’ NOHR’-zeye) on Thursday in Manhattan federal court.
